Welcome to Oakhill farm, the home of forest farming. Our mission is to create a fully integrated eco-system between the wildlife and livestock on our farm. Forest farming is all about working with nature not against it. Oakhill Farm is nestled in the beautiful green hills of North Wales. It encompasses hillside and valley with a gently flowing stream on the valley floor. With two and a half acres of woodland it already provides a small sheltered spot for wildlife, but that's not enough! We want to give the farm back to nature. We're going to replant most of our pasture land and convert it back into woodland.
What's it all about?
We are working to help the environment by encouraging biodiversity and improve animal welfare standards and supporting endangered British Breeds.
We're re-planting the forest habitat that covered these hills only a few decades ago and we'd love as many of you as possible to get involved with the project. By becoming a sponsor, telling us your ideas on the forum and getting your hands dirty down on the farm!
At Oakhill Farm we're looking for pioneers to help us with building the foundations of this project.
Step one is to stop the erosion of parts of the hillside and improve the soil structure so that it can sustain plant and insect life. We're going to do this by planting as many trees and wild flowers as possible. The trees will be a selection of native trees, producing seeds, nuts and berries, and some fruit trees to provide a quick injection of food into the system.
The trees will provide our honey bees and other insects with pollen and nectar to produce honey and fruit and nuts to feed the larger animals. The larger farm animals will provide food for the trees in the form of manure. In order for this cycle of mutual feeding to work, all of our animals must be free to roam through the trees and forage for nutritious wild food.
Step two will be to create individual habitats for specific native species. Building homes for our rarest reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Then reintroducing them to the hills.
Step three comes when we feel that we've done as much as we can for the land we already have. When that happens we will expand to new areas. We want you to make us aware of available land near you that would benefit from a nature hit. More patches of wildlife friendly habitat means that nature has a better chance of surviving global warming, and in turn so do we and our children.

Shaping Our Future
Let's leave our kids a vibrant, lush green wilderness to discover, not a cold, concrete jungle.
Get together with us and other like minded people at our next tree planting party, Let us show you our vision of what we can achieve if we work together and start doing something positive today, together.
Oakhill Farm is committed to a future of biodiversity, free from pesticides and herbicides, where nature controls the tide of life.
